The Beginning
A Brush, A Calling
Thirty years ago in the Quad Cities, Starr Brown picked up a brush and discovered a language she had been speaking her whole life. What began as a private devotion — late nights, canvas after canvas — became a lifelong conversation between color and soul.

For three decades, Starr has painted the souls she sees in the world: bold, unapologetic portraits of Black women, vibrant abstracts, and cultural artwork where every face carries heritage, joy, and resilience. Her signature belief — "I don't paint faces. I paint the light inside them."

BEE NATURAL ART Gallery opened its doors as a Black-owned contemporary art gallery: original artwork and fine-art prints by a Black artist, made for real homes. Museum-quality archival paper, hand-signed editions, certificates of authenticity — and select original canvases for collectors.
